The Undergraduate Exchange Program (UEP) |

The Undergraduate Exchange Program (UEP) funded by the Open Society Institute is a two-year
fellowship involving one year, non-degree study in the United States and one-year community service
leadership in one’s home country.
Eligible applicants from Ukraine must be second-year university students studying in the regions of
Dnipropetrovsk, Donetsk, Kharkiv, Kherson, Luhansk, Mykolaiv, Odessa, Poltava, Sumy, or Zaporizhia
and majoring in the Humanities and Social Sciences.
Application deadline for Ukraine has been extended until 10 December, 2009.

Cambridge university, in conjunction with the Open Society Institute |
|
invite applications from scholars from selected countries in Central and Eastern Europe
and the former Soviet Union, including Ukraine, who wish to work in the universities’
libraries or to contact academic specialists in their subjects. At Cambridge the programme offers
one-month visits in one of the Cambridge colleges during the summer
months (July-September). Scholars will normally be of post-doctoral or equivalent
status and will be university teachers or members of research institutes.
Completed application forms in duplicates should be returned to Kharkiv "Osvita" Center by
1 December 2009.

The Edmund S. Muskie Graduate Fellowship Program (Muskie) is a program of the Bureau of
Educational and Cultural Affairs of the United States Department of State, and administered by IREX.
Muskie provides opportunities for Master’s level study in the United States.
Eligible Program Fields for citizens of Russia and Ukraine: Business Administration, Economics,
Law, Public Administration, Public Policy.
Application deadline: 2 November, 2009.

DAAD-OSI Scholarship for the 2010-2011 |

The German Academic Exchange Service (DAAD) and OSI Scholarship Programs sponsor
a joint scholarship program for graduate students and junior faculty. Awards are
available to support MA, PhD and Faculty in the following broad fields:
Political Science, Sociology and the Social Sciences, International Relations,
Law, Economics, European Studies, European Integration, Public Policy and
Administration, Public Health, Educational Administration and Philosophy,
Peace Studies/Conflict Resolution, International Development Studies and Global
Political Economy. The program is administered by DAAD.

2010-2011 Hubert H. Humphrey Fellowship for Mid-Career Professionals
The U.S. Embassy in Ukraine announces the launch of the 2010-2011
Hubert H. Humphrey Fellowship for Mid-Career Professionals.
This is a 10-month, non-degree program for Ukrainian mid-career
professionals who have a completed professional degree and at least
five years of substantial professional experience in the field of:
- Agricultural and Rural Development;
- Economic Development/Finance and Banking;
- HIV/AIDS Policy and Prevention;
- Natural Resources/Environmental Policy/Climate Change;
- Public Health Policy and Management;
- Urban and Regional Planning.

The Consular Section of the U.S. Embassy in Kyiv, Ukraine is pleased to
announce a web-forum on the U.S. Exchange Visitor Programs which will
take place on March 10-20. The main topics for discussion will be:
- Overview of exchange programs
- Summer Work and Travel and Camp Counselor programs
- Program Requirements.
- How to get started.
- Authorized period of stay.
- Grace period.
- What to do if there are problems with

Global Supplementary Grant Program (GSGP 2009 – 2010)
The Open Society Institute's Network Scholarship Programs (NSP)
is pleased to announce the Global Supplementary Grant Program (GSGP)
for the 2009 – 2010 academic year. GSGP offers supplementary grants
to qualified students from select countries including Ukraine to pursue
doctoral studies in the Humanities and Social Sciences at accredited
universities in Asia, Australia, Europe, the Middle/Near East, and North
America.
Please note that this is a supplementary program not intended for full funding.

OPEN SOCIETY FOUNDATION – MAASTRICHT UNIVERSITY SCHOLARSHIPS IN EUROPEAN STUDIES 2009-10
OSF and MU invite applicants for MA scholarships in the
field of European Studies (3 different MA programs are available:
European Studies, European Public Affairs, Analysing Europe).
Applicants will be expected to have received their first university

Call for Scholarship Interview Consultants
The Undergraduate Exchange Program (UEP) is currently recruiting a
Scholarship Consultant to conduct interviews in Odesa, Dnipropetrovsk
and Kharkiv, Ukraine. Consultants will interview university students
for a period of one or two day(s) in late mid-February 2009.
Scholarship Consultants will be part of an interview team that
includes an UEP Staff Member and an American university international
education expert. The interview team will select finalists for the
UEP Program, a fellowship program sponsored by the Open Society
Institute in New York (www.soros.org).
Applicants should be currently living/working in or around the interview
locations. Candidates who are familiar with the Open Society Institute
or American scholarship programs are preferred.
Consultants will be granted an honorarium, daily expenses, and meals
during the interview process.

OSI/FCO CHEVENING SCHOLARSHIPS 2009-2010
The Open Society Institute welcomes applications from citizens of Ukraine
for the OSI/FCO Chevening Scholarships 2009-2010, which are jointly funded
by the Open Society Foundation, the UK Foreign and Commonwealth Office and
the University of Oxford.
Within the Scholarship Scheme the following options are available:
- Nine-month Research Scholarships at the University of Oxford
- Nine-month postgraduate Research Scholarships contributing towards a
doctoral degree in the candidate’s home institution (in the Humanities,
Social Sciences, or Environmental Sciences) or
- Master’s Scholarships
- At the University of Oxford (in the Humanities, Social Sciences,
or Environmental Sciences);
