In collaboration with the Open Society Institute and the United Kingdom's Foreign and Commonwealth Office, the Cambridge Overseas Trust offers a number of scholarships to enable students of outstanding academic merit from Ukraine to pursue one-year taught postgraduate courses of study at the University of Cambridge in subjects relevant to the needs of their countries.
The Graduate Studies Prospectus includes both the University’s Graduate Application Form to apply for admission as a graduate student, and the Cambridge Trusts’ Scholarship Application Form to apply for funding from the Cambridge Trusts. The Graduate Studies Prospectus is available on-line at: www.admin.cam.ac.uk/offices/gradstud/admissions

OSI/FCO CHEVENING SCHOLARSHIPS 2006-2007

The scholarships are for postgraduate study in the UK for periods of up to one year. They are jointly funded by the Open Society Institute and the UK Foreign and Commonwealth Office. Within the Scholarship Scheme the following options are available:

  • Research Scholarships at the University of Oxford 
       - nine-month Research Scholarships 
       - three-moth Rsearch Scholarships in Applied Social Studies 
  • Master's Scholarships 
       - at the University of Oxford 
       - at the University of York

Global Supplementary Grant Program
(GSGP 2010 – 2011)

The Open Society Institute's Network Scholarship Programs (NSP) is pleased to announce the Global Supplementary Grant Program (GSGP) for the 2010 – 2011 academic year. GSGP offers supplementary grants to students from select countries of Eastern and Central Europe, the former Soviet Union, and Mongolia. The purpose of the program is to enable qualified students to pursue doctoral studies in the Humanities and Social Sciences at accredited universities in Asia, Australia, Europe, the Middle/Near East, and North America.

Eligibility
The Global Supplementary Grant Program is available to citizens of the following countries: Albania, Armenia, Azerbaijan, Belarus, Bosnia, Croatia, Georgia, Kazakhstan, Kosovo, Kyrgyzstan, Macedonia, Moldova, Mongolia, Montenegro, Russia, Serbia, Tajikistan, Turkmenistan, Ukraine, and Uzbekistan.

Students pursuing doctorates in the medical, physical, chemical, technical or natural sciences as well as fine or performing arts are not eligible for this grant. Ineligible fields of study include:

  •  Business Administration/Management Training
  •  Computer Science
  •  Finance/Banking/Marketing
  •  Engineering
  •  Hard & Natural Sciences (Physics, Biology, Chemistry, etc.)
  •  Mathematics
  •  Medical Sciences

GSGP grants are for students pursuing doctorate degrees only. Students admitted to master’s programs with the intent to continue, but who are not clearly admitted into a Ph.D. program, are ineligible.

Please note that this is a supplementary program not intended for full funding. Applicants must be able to demonstrate additional support from other sources.

Deadlines
The deadline for students pursuing a Ph.D. in Asia, Australia, North America, or the Middle East is April 2, 2010.
The deadline for students pursuing a Ph.D. in Europe is June 10, 2010
Applications will not be accepted after the appropriate deadline. Late applications will be automatically disqualified.

The Open Society Institute, the Foreign and Commonwealth Office and the University of Edinburgh invite applications for MSc/Diploma by Research Scholarships at the University of Edinburgh. Scholarships are available in a wide range of social sciences fields.
Each scholarship provides one year's tuition fees at the University of Edinburgh, a stipend to cover living costs (for one person only), and return air travel from the scholar's home country.
Applicants will normally be expected to be under 35 years old, be both nationals of and resident in Ukraine and be registered for, or planning to take up doctoral study (at PhD level, which is equivalent to kandidat nauk, NOT doktorantura) in Ukraine.

Muskie/Freedom Support Act Graduate Fellowship Program provides fellowships for graduate degree programs at academic institutions throughout the United States that are from one to two years in length. Starting from 2005/2006, a consortium of four leading European institutions for environmental research and postgraduate education - Central European University (Hungary), Lund University (Sweden), the University of the Aegean (Greece) and the University of Manchester (UK) - is launching the Erasmus Mundus Masters Course in Environmental Sciences, Policy and Management (MESPOM).
The 2-year (120 ECTS) program is delivered in English and includes three terms of taught courses followed by a fourth research term. The first two terms are taught at CEU. During the third term students choose between specialized tracks at Lund University or University of Manchester. During the 4th term, the students conduct their individual research projects and write their Masters theses at any of the four Consortium partners. This is normally combined with internships in inter-governmental organizations, government, industry or NGOs in Europe and home countries.
